Heart Break Lake - General FAQs

I have never run a trail race; can I do this?

Our core value at HSR is to make trail and ultra running more accessible. Heart break lake is designed for beginners and the unique 4km loop means you can set your own goals.

An ultra sounds very intimating, I could never run one.

You don't have to! If you are up for an ultra-distance then enter solo or in pairs, the fast trail loop will be perfect for hitting a PR. You can also enter in teams of up to 12. So, if you're just coming from couch to 5K you can set your own goal; such as 10km in 24 hours.

  1. Solo
  • Designed for the ultra-runners that want to push themselves. Our course is perfect for nailing a PB, if you want to do your first 50, 100 or 200km then this is for you!
  1. Pairs
  • Enter in pairs to either work as team and run together to maximize laps or send it individually to get that rest.
  1. Teams
  •  Run however you want. Our teams are set up into 3 categories; small, medium large (fun teams). You can take turns to run or all run together! The choice is yours. What strategy will you choose?

Is camping included?

It depends which ticket you select. You can either turn up on the day then leave after the race or soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the afterparty and camp all weekend. All tickets include access to the events village

Where can my team wait for me?

There is a pitstop zone, where your team can wait and cheer you on. You can also keep your nutrition and gear there. This can also be your team rest zone.

What is Pitstop?

This is your team/solo area. You can bring a gazebo/tent (3mx3m), chairs, and a table. This is where you can store your nutrition, gear, and your team support crew can cheer you on.

Can I take my own food and nutrition?

Yes, this is encouraged and can be stored at the pitstops. We will also have a aid station with supplies such as hyradation, and food.

What do I get for finishing?

We love a bit of bling! So you will receive our special HSR medal and lots of other goodies!

Who is the team captain?

The person who books the tickets for the team. You will be taken to our booking partner Lets Do This. The team captain will then book and pay for the whole team. We only need the details of the team captain. Once a team has been selected the link can be sent by multiple methods to the team memebers.

What happens if I don't have a full team?

You can select teams from 2-12 and you don't need to know your full team before you enter. This can all be complete at a later stage.

What happens if myself or a member of the team is injured and cannot run?

You can transfer places using Lets Do this. If yourself or a team member still wants to attend you can select a camping/festival ticket without the ultra.

Is the race chip timed?

Yes, and there may be prizes for the fastest lap, most laps, and mystery prizes.

Can I leave the race to attend workshops/talks/activities?

Yes, this is encouraged! There will be so much to do as well as running.
